چکیده
Highly effective binding of neutral dinitriles by simple alkyl-substituted pillar[5]arenes and the formation of interpenetrated geometries are reported. The resulting host-guest complexes represent one of the most efficient recognition motifs based on pillararenes.

Complexation of neutral 1,4-dihalobutanes with simple pillar[5]arenes that is dominated by dispersion forces.
The complexation of neutral 1,4-dihalobutanes with simple pillar[5]arenes was investigated. The results indicate the formation of interpenetrated complexes, where the dispersive interactions dominate the complex stability. Typically, 1,4-diiodobutane displays the strongest binding strength with ethylpillar[5]arene [K(a) = (1.0 ± 0.1) × 10(4) M(-1)], up to 120 fold as compared with 1,4-difluorob...
متن کاملNovel neutral guest recognition and interpenetrated complex formation from pillar[5]arenes.
Simple alkyl-substituted pillar[5]arenes can form stable interpenetrated complexes with neutral bis(imidazole) guests utilizing multiple C-H···O(N) hydrogen bond and C-H···π interactions.
متن کاملAmide-functionalized pillar[5]arenes as a novel class of macrocyclic receptors for the sensing of H2PO4- anion.
A novel class of amide-functionalized pillar[5]arenes, that is, alkyl and aryl amide derivatives, has been synthesized. Highly selective binding of the dihydrogen phosphate anion over a range of anions by the new synthetic receptors is reported. First, the "binding strength-selectivity" relationship has been decided for the pillar[5]arene/anion systems.
متن کاملThe self-complexation of mono-urea-functionalized pillar[5]arenes with abnormal urea behaviors.
Mono-urea-functionalized pillar[5]arenes were prepared which exhibited abnormal urea behaviors. They were shown to form pseudo[1]rotaxanes with poor anion binding abilities in solution and [c2]daisy chains with an abnormal urea motif in the solid state.
متن کاملPillar[5]arenes: fascinating cyclophanes with a bright future.
Pillar[5]arenes are [1(5)]paracyclophane derivatives consisting of 1,4-disubstituted hydroquinones linked by methylene bridges in the 2,5-positions. The first report of these novel macrocycles was in 2008, when 1,4-dimethoxypillar[5]arene was prepared in 22% yield, and subsequent improvements in synthetic methods have allowed the number of derivatives to expand significantly. In addition to D(5...
